LocalHG.com Launches Online Commercials Aimed at Current
Local Contractor Advertising Methods
June 28, 2008
LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK – As part of our on going campaign to build brand awareness amongst New York homeowners and small-business owners, Franklin Atlantic, LLC has produced a series of commercials that can be viewed online located at the video service YouTube. The commercials show our lighter side, spoofing typical advertising methods, which contractors have used to find new local business.
The first in the series highlights a fictitious plumbing company using a hand drawn flyer stapled onto a telephone pole to attract new customers. With the its ragged edged tear-off's flapping in the wind, the voice over asks our local plumber "Really Joe, this is how your advertising?".
The commercial ends with a local homeowner placing a flyer for a missing cat on the same telephone pole, covering the plumber's flyer. The punch line is that the plumbers tear-off's with his phone number is still displayed. So now our plumber should expect a flood of calls about a missing cat. "Good luck with those phone calls Joe!"
While it is all done tongue-in-cheek, there is some truth to be found in the commercial. Small and one man operations just don't have the time or manpower to dedicate to proper marketing. Most of their marketing efforts are performed during down time, when they have no work. We like to refer to this as "desperation marketing".
When registered with LocalHG.com, local contractors are now marketing their services 24/7 directly to the folks looking for their services. They can place banner ads within key categories as well as geographically in order to get the most value for their money.
Unlike the telephone pole flyers, business owners can actually track the success rate of their listing on LocalHG.com through their user account. They can tell how may times their phone number has been viewed, and how many times a banner ad has been shown on a page and in which category.
I'd like to see a telephone pole do that!
Listings on LocalHG.com are dynamic, not static such as the expensive Yellow book ads from the old days. If you need to change a phone number, no problem. If you want to change the focus of your listing for the different seasons, you can. You are never locked into your listing.
Homeowners have the choice to search for services by county, city or service categories or any combination they choose. This tailors the search for the homeowner so that they find exactly what they are looking for, and the business owner gets a call from a true qualified lead.
